Taiwan’s food

Taiwan's food

Expect similarities to Chinese and Japanese cuisines – with emphasis on noodle dishes (in a once non-beef eating society – even Chinese style Beef Noodle Soup has gained huge popularity), rice, soy, seafood, pork and chicken – with wonderful attention paid to spice usage – chilli peppers, coriander and pickled daikon are particularly popular, while the subtropical location of Taiwan means there is an abundance of fruits such as papaya, starfruit and melons.Try cuttlefish soup, Oyster omelette, Pork and shitake geng (a kind of thick soup) with rice or the Chinese style Spicy Hotpot. The street food in the capital is repeatedly voted as one of the best available in the world – but be sure to speak to one of our representatives to make sure you find one of the better spots to enjoy it – as some of the stalls offer sub-standard fare.
